July 2 (THEWILL) — Lifestyle content creator and model, Nara Smith, has revealed that her two-year-old daughter, Whimsy Lou, has been diagnosed with cancer.
Smith shared the news in an emotional video posted on Instagram and TikTok on Wednesday, July 1, revealing that her daughter was diagnosed late last year after she and her husband, model Lucky Blue Smith, noticed “something suspicious” and took her to the hospital.
After undergoing X-rays, ultrasounds and a biopsy, doctors confirmed that Whimsy had cancer that had spread to other parts of her body.
“They immediately called us and said she had cancer. They told us it had spread and that she needs to come and start chemo treatment immediately”, Smith said.
The 24-year-old said the family kept the diagnosis private so they could focus on Whimsy’s treatment. She added that caring for her daughter, looking after her other three children and keeping up with work has been challenging.
Smith said she decided to speak publicly to encourage other parents to get their children checked if something does not seem right.
“I hope that by sharing this, I can bring someone else a little bit of comfort and make you feel less alone in your journey”, she added
The announcement received an outpouring of support from fans and celebrities, including Raye, Leona Lewis, Haley Baylee and Charlie Puth.
Smith, who has more than 17 million followers across Instagram and TikTok, is known for her cooking, lifestyle and family videos. She and Lucky Blue Smith have four children together.
