May 13, (THEWILL) – Former world number one Andy Murray will no longer coach Novak Djokovic, ending their professional collaboration after just six months together.
The announcement came from Murray’s team on Tuesday, marking the conclusion of what had been a high-profile tennis partnership.
The Serbian 24-time Grand Slam champion appointed Murray ahead of the 2025 Australian Open, where Djokovic reached the semi-finals before injury halted his progress.
Despite initial indications that the arrangement would continue indefinitely, both parties have now decided to part ways.
“Thanks to Novak for the unbelievable opportunity to work together and thanks to his team for all their hard work over the past six months,” Murray stated in the official announcement.
“I wish Novak all the best for the rest of the season.” Djokovic reciprocated the sentiment, noting: “I really enjoyed deepening our friendship together.”
The split comes during a challenging period for the 37-year-old Djokovic, who has experienced a noticeable dip in form during the clay court season.
Following his defeat in the Miami Open final against Jakub Mensik, Djokovic suffered early exits at Masters tournaments in both Monte Carlo and Madrid. He subsequently withdrew from the Italian Open without explanation.
Djokovic has accepted a wildcard entry for the Geneva Open scheduled for May 18-24, which will serve as preparation for Roland Garros beginning May 25.
The French Open represents a significant opportunity for Djokovic to claim his fourth title at the tournament, returning to the venue where he won Olympic gold in 2024.
