September 15, (THEWILL) – Leicester City have announced the nominees for their August Goal of the Month award, with Nigerian internationals, Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho, making the shortlist.
Iheanacho opened the scoring against Burton Albion in the Carabao Cup with a clever backheel finish from Marc Albrighton’s cross. He later turned provider, beating the offside trap and setting up Ndidi for a composed first-time finish.
The Nigerian duo face competition from several other impressive goals, including efforts from Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Stephy Mavididi, Amani Richards, Zach Booth, Wanya Marçal and Kasey McAteer.
Ndidi and Iheanacho recently impressed for Nigeria against São Tomé and Príncipe, assisting in two goals in Nigeria’s 6-0 victory. They were linked with summer exits but look set to remain at Leicester until at least January.
Fans can vote for the Goal of the Month on Leicester’s website. The winner will be announced in the coming weeks.
