July 12, (THEWILL) – Leicester City midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi, has signed a contract extension, keeping him at the club until June 2027. The English Premier League returnees announced the deal on their official website, subject to FA approval.
Ndidi joined Leicester from Racing Genk in January 2017, making him the second longest-serving player after Jamie Vardy. During his time with the Foxes, he has won the FA Cup, Community Shield and most recently, the Championship title.
The Nigerian international expressed his happiness about the new contract, saying: “I feel great, I feel excited, I feel at home. That’s the most important thing. I feel really happy to continue with the Club.” He added that his family is settled in Leicester and that the club has become synonymous with his name back in Nigeria.
Since arriving in England, Ndidi has made 273 appearances for Leicester City across all competitions, contributing 17 goals and 17 assists. His performances earned him the club’s Young Player of the Year award in 2017 and 2018.
If both parties honour the agreement, Ndidi’s stay at Leicester City will extend beyond a decade. The 27-year-old central midfielder has been a key player for the club and will likely play a crucial role in their return to the EPL for the 2024/2025 season.
