March 31, (THEWILL) – Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested Arokodare Damil Ebenezer, a Lekki-based businessman and proprietor of Damillionz Takeout, over his alleged involvement in the shipment of 60 parcels of Loud, a potent strain of cannabis, from the United States to Nigeria.
The 43-year-old suspect was apprehended on Monday, March 24, 2025, at Bay Lounge, Admiralty Way, Lekki, where he was reportedly awaiting the arrival of his latest drug consignment.
NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, confirmed in a statement that the arrest followed the seizure of the illicit cargo, which arrived in Nigeria on March 12, 2025. The shipment, concealed in seven large cartons, was intercepted by NDLEA operatives from the Directorate of Operations and General Investigation at a logistics company in Lagos.
A subsequent search of the suspect’s residence led to the discovery of 94 grams of the same substance, along with a cannabis grinder and other drug-related paraphernalia. In total, 32.24 kilograms of illicit drugs were confiscated.
During interrogation, Ebenezer reportedly admitted to engaging in drug trafficking since 2017.
In a separate operation at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, NDLEA operatives foiled an attempt by a businessman, Omoruyi Terry, to smuggle 1,400 tramadol tablets (225mg) weighing 800 grams to Italy. He was intercepted at the screening point of Terminal 2 while trying to board a Qatar Airways flight. Investigations revealed that Omoruyi was a frequent traveler and a logistics agent operating between Nigeria and Italy.
Elsewhere, NDLEA officers carried out a string of successful raids. In Godai village, Daura Local Government Area of Katsina State, operatives arrested four suspects—Baraka Abubakar (40), Haruna Alitine (23), Muhammad Babangida (20), and Hamisu Lawal—seizing 684 blocks of compressed skunk (423kg) and 86,000 diazepam pills. Between March 24 and 28, NDLEA raided forests in Edo State, destroying 13,198 kilograms of cannabis sativa and evacuating 158kg for further investigation. The targeted plantations were located in Uhen forest (Ovia North East LGA), Sobe (Owan West LGA), and Amahor forest (Igueben LGA).
On March 28, NDLEA officers on patrol along the Mokwa-Jebba road intercepted a black Toyota Corolla (SLM 137 SV), arresting two suspects—Paul Christopher (46) and Lucky Star Anumie—with 179 blocks of compressed skunk (77.6kg) concealed in a false compartment.
In Wawa village, Borgu LGA, operatives recovered 50kg of skunk from the residence of a fleeing suspect, Isa Iliya. On March 25, 108.5kg of skunk was confiscated from lock-up shops at Aria New Market, Enugu. On March 24, NDLEA officers arrested Abdulrazak Saka in the Kilako area of Ilorin with 25kg of cannabis. In Ibadan, a 50-year-old suspect, Suli Saheed, was apprehended with 2.5kg of Ghanaian Loud and 515 grams of Colorado.
Reacting to these developments, NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), praised officers across various commands—including MMIA, Edo, Kwara, Niger, Enugu, Oyo, and Katsina—for their relentless efforts in tackling drug trafficking nationwide.
