March 09, (THEWILL) – This March, the national women’s cricket teams of select African countries will compete in a six-nation T-20 international cricket competition in Nigeria, including the impressive Rwandan team.
The competition will take place at the Tafawa Balewa Square Cricket Oval in Lagos from March 26th to April 4th. According to Uyi Akpata, the president of the Nigeria Cricket Federation, the six countries competing for the trophy were chosen from West, Central, and East Africa.
“The tournament will have Rwanda, Ghana, Sierra Leone, The Gambia, Cameroon and host country Nigeria as competitors,” Akpata said.
“This event is part of celebrating the milestones that the Federation has achieved in raising many female cricketers through its grassroots project – it is set to become a part of the process.”
Rwanda, which is slowly but steadily building a reputation for themselves in the African cricket scene, will be looking to win the event. Nigeria, also a budding cricket country, will try to stop them.
