June 03, (THEWILL) – The Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) has announced a change in the schedule for the 2023 Super 6 championship playoff.
The tournament, originally planned to run from June 9 to June 16, will now be held from June 6 to June 11, 2023. The adjustment was made to meet the deadline for countries to submit representatives for the WAFU-B playoff for the CAF Women’s Champions League.
Six teams including Rivers Angels, Delta Queens, Edo Queens, Bayelsa Queens, Confluence Queens, and Robo Queens, will compete in the playoff, scheduled for Asaba, Delta State.
In Group A, Edo Queens finished as group winners, followed by Robo Queens in second place and Confluence Queens in third. In Group B, Delta Queens claimed the top spot, with Bayelsa Queens in second and Rivers Angels in third. The teams’ impressive performances in the regular season earned them a place in the championship playoff, which promises to be a highly competitive event.
The NWFL’s decision to adjust the Super 6 playoff schedule showcases its commitment to meeting international deadlines and ensuring the participation of Nigerian teams in the CAF Women’s Champions League.
