February 19, (THEWILL) — Nigerian billionaire, Abdul Samad Rabiu, has commissioned a 60-metre luxury yacht from Italian shipbuilder, Baglietto.
He shared the news in a short Instagram post, writing:
“60 metres in the making. Thanks, Fabio and James. #ASR,”
The post suggests the project is already underway.
The yacht will be built by Baglietto, a prestigious shipyard based in La Spezia, Italy, known for crafting high-end yachts between 40 and 60 metres.
Designed for comfort, long-distance cruising, and luxury living, a yacht of this size usually takes several years to complete.
Rabiu is the founder and chairman of BUA Group, one of Nigeria’s largest industrial conglomerates. He has built a vast business empire across cement, sugar, flour, and infrastructure, earning him a place among Africa’s wealthiest individuals.
The new yacht places Rabiu among a small group of Nigerian and African elites who own large, custom-built superyachts.
If confirmed by the shipyard, the 60-metre Baglietto would rank among the most notable private luxury builds linked to a Nigerian industrialist in recent year.
