September 02, (THEWILL) — Nigerian chef and former Guinness World Record holder, Hilda Baci, has unveiled plans for a daring new culinary feat, preparing the world’s largest pot of Jollof rice.
Baci made the announcement on Monday in a viral Instagram video, revealing that the record-breaking attempt is scheduled for September 12, 2025.
According to her, the project will involve cooking 250 bags of basmati rice in a specially designed pot with a capacity of 22,619 litres.
The massive vessel, she noted, measures about six metres in width and 1.3 metres in depth.
“I’m making the executive decision to cook 250 bags of basmati rice. The pot is six metres wide, 1.1 metres tall, and about 1.3 metres deep. I’m sure the pot is not going to sink,” she said.
The enormous serving is expected to feed at least 10,000 people.
This latest challenge comes two years after Baci earned global recognition by setting the record for the longest individual cooking marathon, during which she cooked for 93 hours and 11 minutes.
