April 08, (THEWILL) — The Nigerian DJ (NDJ) Association has temporarily banned music by Burna Boy, directing DJs in Nigeria and abroad to remove his songs from their playlists, following a reported clash with disc jockey DJ Tunez.
The incident reportedly occurred on Monday at a private Lagos event, where a disagreement between Burna Boy and DJ Tunez allegedly escalated into a physical confrontation.
Eyewitnesses said bystanders had to step in.
Burna Boy’s management has not commented.
In a statement on Instagram on Tuesday, the DJ body condemned discrimination and urged unity and respect among DJs and artists.
The association emphasised that all DJs deserve equal treatment, professionalism, and dignity from peers and performers alike.
“No one is born hating another because of the skin colour, religion, background or gender… Here at Nigerian DJ, we put all our DJs first, standing firm on ‘ALL DJs are EQUAL’”, NDJ noted.
The group also said Burna Boy’s music will remain off playlists until a full investigation into the incident is completed.
