March 25, (THEWILL) — Nigerian singer-songwriter, Bukola Elemide, popularly known as Asa, has announced the passing of her mother after a sudden brain tumour.
The 43-year-old musician shared the news in an Instagram post on Tuesday, describing her mother as “my reason to be, my queen, my everything.”
According to Asa, the illness came without warning.
“A sudden brain tumour came without warning and took you too soon,” she wrote.
In her tribute, the singer described her mother as kind, loving, and deeply supportive. She also reflected on her quiet nature and strong presence in her life.
“You were extremely shy, and so funny. My biggest fan,” she wrote.
She recalled a personal memory that highlighted her mother’s unwavering support.
“You couldn’t hold a note to save your life, but you sang every one of my songs with your whole heart.”
Asa ended the tribute with a farewell message, expressing both grief and gratitude.
“Your strength, your love, your spirit will remain with me forever. Rest now, Mum.”
The post has since drawn condolences from fans and colleagues across the entertainment industry.
