October 25, (THEWILL) – British singer and songwriter, Raye, has said books containing songs for her forthcoming second album are missing after the car they were in was stolen.

In an Instagram post marking her 27th birthday, the “Escapism” singer revealed that her car had been stolen and that the vehicle had contained notebooks filled with songs earmarked for her second album.

The star had been working on the follow-up to her multi-Brit Award-winning debut My 21st Century Blues.

“It’s my birthday and my car got stolen with all my songwriting books in the boot so no second album any time soon love you bye”, Raye wrote on Instagram.

Raye also posted a picture of a cake for her 27th birthday, which had been iced to say “Sorry ur car got stolen”.

Born Rachel Agatha Keen on 24 October 1997, Raye is best known for her single, Escapism, the break-out hit from her debut album. She has also appeared on a string of other top 10 hits, such as Bed (a collaboration with Joel Corry and David Guetta), Prada (with Cassö and D-Block Europe) and Secrets (with Regard).

Raye made history at the Brit Awards earlier this year when she won six of the seven prizes she was nominated for.

Before her breakthrough as a solo artist, Raye wrote songs for other acts, including Beyoncé, Little Mix, Rihanna, David Guetta, John Legend and Ellie Goulding.

She rose to prominence after her guest appearances on the commercially successful 2016 singles “By Your Side” by Jonas Blue and “You Don’t Know Me” by Jax Jones, as well as her 2020 single “Secrets” (with Regard) and “Bed” (with David Guetta and Joel Corry) the following year.

Raye’s 2022 single “Escapism” (featuring 070 Shake) went viral on TikTok before becoming her first song to top the UK Singles Chart. It also reached the top ten in 22 countries and became her first entry on the US Billboard Hot 100. It preceded the release of My 21st Century Blues.
