April 13, (THEWILL) — Veteran Nollywood actor Patrick Doyle has announced the heartbreaking loss of his newborn daughter, just hours after celebrating her arrival.
The actor shared the news in a Facebook post on Sunday, revealing that the baby, Omayinuwa Mayen Harriet Doyle, passed away less than a day after she was born.
“Omayinuwa visited us briefly at about 10:40 a.m. on Friday, April 10, and returned to heaven on Saturday, April 11, at about 4:15 p.m.
“Her stay was short, but it brought great joy with it. We would have wished for a longer stay, but alas, heaven thought otherwise,” he wrote.
He added, “This much we know, though: God still rules in the affairs of men. Our faith in the goodness of God remains resolute regardless. Sibe’ sibe’ Oluwa n’be’. It is well with our soul.”
The tragic development came shortly after Doyle had announced the birth of the child with his wife, Oluwafunmilayo, expressing gratitude to God and describing the baby as a “precious addition” to his family.
At the time, he had stated that both mother and child were in good health.
Fans and colleagues have since taken to social media to express their condolences and support for the grieving family.
Patrick Doyle was previously married to Nollywood actress Ireti Doyle. Their marriage, which began in 2004, ended in divorce, officially confirmed in early 2023.
He later remarried his wife, Oluwafunmilayo, in a court registry ceremony in August 2022, followed by a traditional wedding on December 14, 2023.
The cause of the baby’s death has not been disclosed.
