January 26, (THEWILL) — Nollywood actress and filmmaker Bimbo Ademoye has expressed gratitude after a copyright dispute involving her YouTube film Where Love Lives, was resolved in her favour.
The problem began when an individual using the alias Emmanuel Davies falsely claimed ownership of a song featured in the film.
According to Ademoye, the song belongs to her and was used with the artist’s approval, but it was reportedly uploaded to platforms including Spotify, under Davies’ name as the composer.
The false claim led to a copyright strike on the film, causing the YouTube video to be demonetized and its earnings diverted from Ademoye’s channel.
Where Love Lives, released in December 2025, had already gained millions of views before the issue occurred.
Ademoye initially raised the issue publicly, expressing distress over the situation and threatening legal action while demanding the immediate removal of the claim.
She later announced the resolution on Instagram on Monday, thanking her mother, friends, creative team and online supporters for their help in resolving the issue.
She also praised her fans for repeatedly reporting the false claim until the song was removed from all platforms.
She wrote:
“God don’t play about me, that’s how I know he’s real. I want to say a very big thank you to my mother @uduakisong1 for not resting till the issue was resolved. I love you forever mom. To @ugoccie and her team, thank you for standing by me and helping out. @sir.fela thank you for always helping to make sure things are resolved.
“And most importantly! to my Amazing cyber family! Haa you guys, una no dey carry me play o. You guys reported Emmanuel Davies till the song got taken down on all platforms. I’m kicking my feet in the air like a little child. It’s giving play with her and you’d incure the watch of her cyber family. I love you guys so much”.
