July 19, (THEWILL) — Nollywood has been plunged into mourning following the death of veteran actor Tom Njemanze, who passed away on July 18, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.
The news was confirmed by actor and filmmaker Stanley Ajemba, popularly known as Stanley Ontop, in a heartfelt statement released on Saturday, July 19:
“Good afternoon, everyone. It’s a sad moment for Nollywood as we just received confirmation from Tom Njemanze’s family that he passed away yesterday due to health complications. We did our best, but God knows best. Rest in peace, legend.”
Stanley Ontop had been actively mobilising support for Njemanze’s medical treatment following the actor’s prostate cancer diagnosis.
A celebrated figure from Nollywood’s golden era, Njemanze captivated audiences with memorable performances in classic films such as Pounds and Dollars, Brain Box, and Magic Cap.
His death marks the end of an era and leaves an irreplaceable void in the Nigerian entertainment industry.
