May 11, (THEWILL) – The 11th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) held on May 10, 2025, at the prestigious Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos, brought together the brightest stars and creatives in African film and television for a night of glamour, celebration, and recognition.
Hosted by veteran media personality IK Osakioduwa and teenage sensation David Oke, the event honoured exceptional talent across the continent, spotlighting the actors, filmmakers, and content creators who have shaped African storytelling over the past year.
The red carpet was a spectacle of style as celebrities showcased dazzling looks that merged Nollywood elegance with haute couture. The ceremony was punctuated by captivating performances from Johnny Drille, Serotonin, Kunmi, Fido, and Nigerian Idol Season 9 winner, Chima Udoye, who delivered a heartfelt tribute to departed legends of the industry.
Veteran actors Sani Mu’azu and Nkem Owoh received Lifetime Achievement Awards in recognition of their decades-long contributions to African cinema. Meanwhile, filmmaker Kayode Kasum was presented with the Trailblazer Award for his groundbreaking work and innovative storytelling.
This year’s AMVCA proved to be more than an awards show—it underscored the global rise of African entertainment, where tradition and innovation converge to tell compelling, authentic stories. With its continued impact, the AMVCA remains the continent’s leading platform for celebrating excellence in film and television.
