April 30, (THEWILL) – Barcelona Femeni secured the Liga F title after a comfortable 3-0 victory over Sporting Huelva on Saturday, with Asisat Oshoala finishing the victory with the third goal.
The win was enough to see Jonatan Giráldez’s side lift the trophy with four games remaining and maintain their 100% record in the competition. Alexia Putellas, who returned from injury to play a part in the game, lifted the trophy in front of the home supporters.
Barça Women were dominant from the start, but they struggled to create clear-cut opportunities against a resolute Sporting Huelva side. However, Laia Codina broke the deadlock with a stunning volley just before half-time. Jana Fernandez then scored a sensational goal from outside the box to make it 2-0 in the second half, before Oshoala sealed the victory with a late goal.
It is the eighth league title for the Catalan Women’s side and their fourth in a row. The victory sees them continue their dominance in the Spanish women’s game. The triumph also marks a successful return to the field for Putellas, who had been out of action for almost ten months.
The win is yet another piece of silverware for the Blaugranes, who will be looking to continue their success in the coming seasons.
