March 30, (THEWILL) — The General Overseer of Omega Power Ministries, Chibuzor Gift Chinyere, has wedded his adopted autistic son, Aboy Chibuzor, to a woman.
The ceremony, held on Sunday, March 29, 2026, followed public backlash over the pastor’s earlier appeal for a “healthy” woman willing to marry and care for the non-verbal young man.
Aboy, who was reportedly abandoned at the church gate as a child, has been raised under the pastor’s care and requires assistance with daily activities.
To support the marriage, the cleric announced a welfare package for the couple, including a ₦10 million cash gift, a house, and an overseas trip. He also promised an additional ₦20 million after 10 years if Aboy is still alive. Church members contributed over ₦1.2 million in donations.
In a video shared after the wedding, the bride said she is a widow and a mother of three, clarifying earlier claims that she was single.
The pastor also shared updates after the ceremony, saying “miracles have already started,” as Aboy has begun feeding himself without assistance. He added that he believes the young man could begin to speak within six months.
The development has sparked mixed reactions online. While some praised the gesture as an act of care and support, others criticised it, raising concerns about the nature of the arrangement.
Earlier, the pastor apologised over the controversy, stating that he did not intend to disrespect women but only sought to provide companionship and care for his adopted son.
