Paul Vs Davis

November 04, (THEWILL) — The exhibition boxing match between Jake Paul and Gervonta Davis has been cancelled, Most Valuable Promotions announced on Monday. The bout was scheduled for November 14 at the Kaseya Centre in Miami with live streaming on Netflix.

The cancellation follows a civil lawsuit filed against Davis by his former partner, Courtney Rossel. Court records in Miami-Dade County show she has accused the boxer of battery, aggravated battery, false imprisonment, kidnapping and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Davis, who holds the WBA lightweight championship and carries an unbeaten record of 30-0-1, now faces legal proceedings whilst Paul’s promotional team searches for a replacement opponent.

Nakisa Bidarian, chief executive of Most Valuable Promotions, stated the company had worked with all parties to handle the situation responsibly. He confirmed that Paul still intends to headline a Netflix event in 2025, with details of a new date, location and opponent to be announced once finalised. Fans who purchased tickets through Ticketmaster will receive automatic refunds within 14 to 21 days, whilst those who bought through secondary markets should contact those vendors directly.

Paul, a former YouTube personality with a 12-1 record and seven knockouts, has primarily fought mixed martial arts fighters and athletes without extensive boxing experience. His sole defeat came against Tommy Fury, the only genuine boxer he has faced. Davis would have been Paul’s first opponent with a legitimate active resume, though the match-up raised eyebrows due to significant size differences—Paul weighed 199.4 pounds at his most recent weigh-in compared to Davis’s 133.8 pounds.

Most Valuable Promotions now face the task of finding a suitable replacement. UFC heavyweight Francis Ngannou rejected the possibility of substituting for Davis, calling the offer disrespectful. Paul held discussions with Canelo Álvarez earlier this year, but Álvarez chose to fight Terence Crawford instead. Boxers Edgar Berlanga and Anthony Joshua have also been mentioned amongst possible opponents for Paul’s next bout.
