SAN FRANCISCO, November 22, (THEWILL) –Â British record-breaking swimmer Adam Peaty on Sunday pushed his 100m breaststroke short course world record further out of reach at the International Swimming League (ISL) finals in Budapest.
By clocking 55.41 seconds, the Brit surpassed his own mark from last week by eighth hundredths. The Rio Olympic breaststroke champion is the only man to hold three world records over individual distances in the textile era.
When he broke it the first time in a time of 55.49 last Sunday, it became a British, European and ISL record. And Peaty added the short course mark to his long course world record. Now, he has shaved off some more off the time.
The runner-up in the event was Energy Standard’s Ilya Shymanovich. He equalled what is now the old Peaty world record of 55.49 to become the second-fastest man ever.
In third, Cali Condor Nic Fink clocked 56.16 to set a new American Record, lowering Ian Finnerty‘s 56.29 from last season.
