April 24, (THEWILL) – Former Tottenham Hotspur boss, Mauricio Pochettino, could be heading to Chelsea as the club’s search for a permanent replacement for Graham Potter zeroes in on the Argentine.
After Julian Nagelsmann decided to withdraw from the proceedings, as THEWILL reported, the Blues have turned their focus to Pochettino and are to have further discussions with him according to arrangements in the negotiations.
At this stage, initial talks have been productive and, while a contract has not been agreed upon, Pochettino has shown a willingness to take up the vacant position at Stamford Bridge. The Argentine coach has also reportedly impressed the Chelsea hierarchy with his plan for the squad.
Pochettino believes that with a few key signings, Chelsea can compete once again for English Premier League glory. While the team is still doing their due diligence on potential alternatives, the Argentine coach has emerged as the leading candidate for the job so far.
