May 08, (THEWILL) — Street-pop artiste, Portable, narrowly escaped a car accident on Thursday night in Ogun State, just a day before his newborn son’s naming ceremony.
The incident occurred after the singer experienced brake failure while driving. To avoid colliding with another vehicle, he steered his car into a ditch.
Speaking in a video shared on his Instagram story, Portable said, “My fans, join me in thanking God. I was just driving out this evening when the accident happened. I am fine; I came out unhurt. I suddenly realised that the brakes had failed. My people have arrived here. I thank God they are not here to collect my corpse. I have already bought two cows for my son’s naming ceremony. Thank God the accident didn’t happen while a trailer was passing on the road.”
Portable’s wife, Bewaji, gave birth on May 1, 2026, during the singer’s celebrity boxing match against streamer, Carter Efe.
Fans have expressed relief that Portable escaped the crash safely as preparations continue for the family celebration.
