April 13, (THEWILL) – Christophe Galtier, manager of Ligue 1 champions, Paris Saint-Germain, is preparing to launch legal proceedings over allegations of racist remarks detailed in an email attributed to former Nice Director, Julien Fournier.
Fournier has denied being responsible for the email’s content, while Galtier has refuted the accusations “in the strongest terms.” To emphasise the severity of the case, Galtier’s legal representative will submit three complaints to the Paris public prosecutor next week.
One will be for libel, against Fournier, as well as Romain Molina and Daniel Riolo, who revealed and confirmed the email’s contents, respectively. Another complaint will be for “risk of harm to others,” and the third will be for bullying and death threats that Galtier received after his phone number was published on social media.
Galtier’s inner circle is said to be surprised by Nice and Fournier’s responses. The club released a statement stating that neither Fournier nor Galtier were working for them anymore and that “this situation was treated with the utmost seriousness at the time of the events. The club will make no further comment.”
The allegations have caused a stir in the football world, and the legal proceedings will be closely watched in the coming weeks.
