May 22, (THEWILL) – PSG officially confirmed that Kylian Mbappe has extended his contract with the club until 2025, ahead of their encounter against Metz on Saturday.

Mbappe was largely expected to see out of his contract in Paris and match a switch to Real Madrid on a free transfer. On Friday, however, it was reported that the 23-year-old has opted to make the Parc des Princes his permanent home until 2025.

A statement from the club about his decision read: “Paris Saint-Germain is proud to announce the extension of Kylian Mbappé’s contract for three additional seasons. The French international striker is now linked to the capital club until June 30, 2025.”

Mbappe also shared his mindset about choosing to stay in the French capital: “I wanted to announce that I have chosen to extend my contract at Paris Saint-Germain, and of course I am very happy about it.

“I am convinced that here I can continue to grow within a club which gives itself all the means to perform at the highest level. I am also very happy to be able to continue to evolve in France, the country where I was born, grew up and flourished.”

Mbappe has 168 goals in 268 games for PSG since joining from Monaco in 2017 and has established himself as one of the game’s most lethal finishers, helping PSG to five French titles, three French Cups, and two French League Cups.
