July 13, (THEWILL) – In light of Cristiano Ronaldo’s wish to leave Manchester United, Jorge Mendes, the forward’s agent, reached out to PSG a few days ago and has now reportedly got a negative feedback.
Both Luis Campos, the club’s new sporting adviser and Nasser Al Khelaifi, are well known to Mendes as the latter played a role in Vitinha’s transfer from Porto, and Renato Sanches, another one of his clients, is currently in advanced talks to join the club controlled by Qatar.
PSG rejected him based on the fact that he would not fit in with the team under the current circumstances. If Ronaldo were to join, the team would have to be built around him, but the club has already made the decision that Kylian Mbappe, a 23-year-old French player, whose contract was recently extended, will serve as the team’s lynchpin, rather than the 37-year-old Portuguese.
The Portuguese striker’s transfer fee and salaries would be an obstacle for potential suitors, and PSG’s finances have already been under scrutiny as a result of multiple claims of financial fair play violations.
Along with the huge salary of other stars like Lionel Messi and Neymar, as well as the enormous salaries of other players in the roster, the Parisian club must deal with Mbappe’s pricey renewal.
