March 17, (THEWILL)- AC Milan continued their impressive run of form with a hard-fought 3-1 away victory against Verona on Sunday. The Serie A giants made it three league wins in a row to further cement their position in the top-four race.
The visitors started strongly and took the lead through Theo Hernandez’s neat finish just before half-time. They doubled their advantage early in the second half when Christian Pulisic tapped home after Hernandez’s shot was parried into his path.
Verona pulled one back midway through the second period as Tijjani Noslin fired home from the edge of the box. However, substitute Samuel Chukwueze scored a brilliant volley five minutes from time to seal all three points for Milan.
Stefano Pioli’s side were utterly dominant in the opening exchanges, with Noah Okafor and Pulisic both going close before Hernandez broke the deadlock. Verona rarely threatened until Noslin’s goal, though Milan always looked likelier to get the game’s next goal. When Chukwueze volleyed home superbly late on, the points were safe for the Rossoneri.
The win takes Milan up to second in the Serie A table, seven points behind leaders and city rivals Inter Milan. They have now won five matches in a row in all competitions as they continue to build momentum heading into the decisive end-of-season run-in. For Verona, the defeat leaves them just two points above the relegation places.
