June 11, (THEWILL) – Aurelien Tchouameni has signed a six-year contract with Real Madrid as the La Liga giants confirmed on Monday for what is believed to be €80 million plus €20 million in add-ons.
On Tuesday, the French midfielder will have his medical, after which he will be presented as a Madrid player at lunchtime on the same day.
Since making his international debut in September of last year, the France international is regarded as one of the most highly rated young midfielders in the world, with 10 caps for his country. Last season, he made 46 appearances for Monaco in all competitions, scoring three goals and assisting on two others as they finished third in Ligue 1.
Before arriving to the principality in January 2020, he played for Bordeaux, where he made 37 first-team appearances. Tchouameni, who can play as a defensive midfielder or a typical central midfielder, is likely to play with Casemiro and provide support for Luka Modric and Toni Kroos, as well as Eduardo Camavinga and Federico Valverde.
Tchouameni is Real’s second summer addition, following Antonio Rudiger, who arrived from Chelsea on a free transfer earlier this month. Los Blancos are anticipated to concentrate their efforts on releasing marginal players such as Dani Ceballos, Luka Jovic, and Mariano Diaz.
