May 03, (THEWILL) – Real Madrid is reportedly in advanced negotiations to sign Borussia Dortmund midfielder, Jude Bellingham.
The 19-year-old has been linked to other clubs, such as Manchester City and Liverpool, in the past. Talks between Real Madrid and Dortmund are at an advanced stage ahead of the start of the summer transfer calendar. While a transfer fee has yet to be agreed upon, it is not believed to be a stumbling block.
Real Madrid’s chief scout, Juni Calafat, is said to be playing a key role in the negotiations, having helped bring in other successful signings like Casemiro, Federico Valverde, Rodrygo, and Vinicius Junior in recent years. Los Blancos have identified Bellingham as the player to take over the central midfield position from Luka Modric and Toni Kroos, who may take on secondary roles when they renew their contracts.
Bellingham has played 40 matches this season for Dortmund, scoring 11 goals and assisting seven times. Although he could still win a Bundesliga title with his current team, he may be on the verge of a move to the Spanish capital.
Real Madrid are also reportedly interested in signing Gabri Veiga from Celta Vigo and a substitute striker for Karim Benzema, as well as a right back to compete with Dani Carvajal. Despite a disappointing season in the league, the Spanish giants are still in the running for a historic 15th European title and will face Manchester City in a UEFA Champions League semi-final on May 9.
