April 28, (THEWILL) — Rebel Wilson has denied allegations that she bullied women connected to her film “The Deb”, calling the claims “absolute nonsense” as she gave evidence in a defamation trial in Sydney.
Wilson is being sued by Australian actress Charlotte MacInnes, who stars in the film, over a series of Instagram posts made in 2024 and 2025.
MacInnes alleges Wilson damaged her reputation by suggesting she lied about raising concerns of sexual harassment involving producer Amanda Ghost.
MacInnes denies ever making such a complaint.
In her testimony on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, Wilson rejected claims that she bullied MacInnes and others involved in the production.
“That’s absolute nonsense,” she told the court when asked about the allegation.
Wilson also denied that her social media posts were meant as harassment, saying they reflected her version of events.
The case centres on a 2023 incident involving MacInnes and Ghost at Bondi Beach, followed by a bath at a Sydney apartment after a swim.
Wilson says MacInnes later described the situation as uncomfortable, while MacInnes says she only called it “bizarre.”
Wilson also denied involvement in any online campaigns targeting MacInnes or Ghost.
MacInnes is seeking damages and a court order to stop Wilson from repeating the claims online.
The trial is ongoing in Sydney.
