January 07, (THEWILL) — Nollywood actress Regina Daniels has addressed months of online drug addiction rumours by undergoing a voluntary drug test, which she shared in an emotional Instagram post on Wednesday.
The actress said the decision followed months of personal challenges and intense public scrutiny, describing the period as overwhelming.
“The past few months of my life have been nothing short of heavy… It has been a major turning point, one that shook me to my core. Everything I had ever known was drowning right in front of me,” she wrote.
Daniels explained that the test was not just to “clear my name” but to protect her children’s future understanding of her character.
She added that the decision was driven by a desire for integrity, accountability and peace of mind amid persistent drug addiction rumours.
She added,
“After much reflection… I decided to take this test because I owe it to the people who stood by me, the people who love me, and the people who look up to me. Taking this test isn’t just about clearing my name, it’s about giving my children something priceless. So that when they’re old enough, they’ll know their mother was never a drug addict.”
She added that the love and support from her family, friends and members of the public helped her get through the difficult period.
The video also showed a medical professional at the facility she visited assuring her that she “had nothing to worry about.”
Describing the experience as a turning point, the actress said it marked a new chapter of self-discovery and personal growth, while expressing gratitude to God for strength and resilience.
Regina further stated that she plans to take legal action against those responsible for spreading the allegations at the appropriate time.
The controversy emerged during her widely publicised marital crisis with her estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, who had previously alleged that she was involved in substance abuse.
