February 26, (THEWILL) — Nigerian Afrobeats star, Rema, has revealed his pre-show rituals.
In a recent interview during Milan Fashion Week, where he walked the runway for Italian fashion brand, Diesel, Rema shared that his routine includes a mix of alcohol, cigarettes, and prayer to help him prepare mentally and physically.
“A little Tequila, a little cigarette, pray, tap in with the team and make sure everything is on cue”, he said, highlighting the importance of preparation.
He noted that performing music is more physically demanding than modelling, requiring intensive breath work and constant engagement with the crowd.
“Performing has a lot to do with your breath work, and you have to keep the crowd going”, he said.
Rema has previously clarified that his smoking is an “expression of art” and a symbolic part of his rebranding for his second album, ‘HEIS’.
Despite his various preparation habits, he admitted that smoking cigarettes remains his biggest vice.
