April 20. (THEWILL) – Rivers United are set to kick off their quarter-final journey in the CAF Confederation Cup against Young Africans SC of Tanzania this weekend.
The reigning Nigerian league champions will play their first-ever Cup quarter-final fixture on Sunday afternoon, at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
This weekend marks the last-eight phase of the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup, with the continent’s top clubs vying for a spot in the next round of the competition. South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns, Tunisia’s ES Tunis, and reigning champions Wydad AC are among the top contenders in the competition.
The quarter-finals are set to showcase some exciting matches, with Algeria’s JS Kabylie facing ES Tunis and USM Alger taking on AS FAR of Morocco. The CAF Confederation Cup also features an evening tie between Pyramids FC of Egypt and South Africa’s Marumo Gallants.
