August 25, (THEWILL) – British singer and songwriter, Harry Edward Styles, has replaced the late legendary Michael Jackson, as the new King of Pop.
Since Jackson’s passing on June 25, 2009, there have been talks and debates over who will prove themselves to be as iconic as the thriller singer.
To put it to a stop, Rollin Stone magazine published a piece with the caption: ‘Harry Styles: How the new King of Pop set the music world aflame’.
Michael Jackson’s nephew, Taj, who disagreed with this, took to his Twitter page and wrote: “There is no new King of Pop. You don’t own the title @RollingStone, and you didn’t earn it, my uncle did.
“Decades of dedication and sacrifice, the title has been retired. No disrespect to @Harry_Styles, he’s mega talented. Give him his own unique title.”
Other fans of the legendary Jackson also commented agreeing with Taj Jackson, saying
“I’m a huge Harry Styles fan, but no. He is not the new King of Pop. There is no new King of Pop.”
Well said Taj, “The King of Pop title is owned by your uncle and him only. The Rolling Stone knows this, they did this to be controversial, and to get people talking about it, the magazine and Harry are blatantly being disrespectful to the true and only King of Pop.”
“100% agree, when Michael Jackson departed this world, the title of King of Pop was left with him. It’s an insult to give that label to anyone, considering the struggles the Jackson family went through back in the day to get to where they are. it’s retired.”
However, other fans took to the comments and defended Rolling Stone naming Harry Styles as the ‘new King of Pop’.
