April 21, (THEWILL) – AS Roma secured a spot in the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa League after defeating Feyenoord 4-1 in extra time at the Olimpico stadium.
With a 1-0 lead from the first leg, the Giallorossi relied on goals from Leonardo Spinazzola, Paulo Dybala, Stephan El Shaarawy, and Lorenzo Pellegrini to clinch the victory. Although Jose Mourinho lost Georginio Wijnaldum and Chris Smalling to injuries, the team celebrated their hard-fought win.
Despite the final scoreline, the game was not an easy one for the Roma team. Feyenoord had a chance to score early in the 13th minute, but Rui Patricio made an impressive save. The game was tense but Dybala scored in the 89th minute to force the game into extra time, where El Shaarawy and Pellegrini sealed the victory.
With the win, Roma will face Bayer Leverkusen in the semifinals of the Europa League. Although the team suffered some injuries, they showed great determination and skill to secure their spot in the next round of the tournament.
In their next match, Feyenoord play FC Utrecht on Sunday in the Eredivisie while Roma are away to Atalanta in Serie A on Monday.
