July 26, (THEWILL) – In light of his uncertain future, Cristiano Ronaldo has returned to Manchester, after travelling back to the UK on Monday.
The Portuguese forward’s return to training and the timing of discussions over his future at Old Trafford are both unknown at this time. Erik ten Hag said that he did not fully understand Ronaldo’s predicament before the 37-year-old’s absence from the United preseason tour in Australia for family reasons.
The club’s position on Ronaldo’s future has not changed as United are open to hearing offers for Ronaldo this summer, even if their official position continues to be that he is not for sale.
Ronaldo, whose United contract has one year left, is in Ten Hag’s plans for the upcoming season, and the manager expects him to stay at the club as THEWILL reported him saying in Bangkok: “We are planning for Cristiano Ronaldo for the season and that’s it. I’m looking forward to working with him. Cristiano is not for sale. He is in our plans and we want success together,” the Dutchman said.
“He’s not with us and it’s due to personal issues. I spoke with him before this issue came up. I had a conversation with him and I had a good talk. That is between Cristiano and me. What I can confirm is we had a really good conversation together. I didn’t speak to him after (the news).”
