May 15, (THEWILL) – Manchester United will be without midfielder Marcel Sabitzer for the remainder of the 2022/2023 season after he sustained a knee injury in a recent match against West Ham.
The injury means he will not feature in the final three league games of the season or the upcoming FA Cup Final against Manchester City. Sabitzer will return to Bayern Munich, his parent club, in the summer where he was loaned from in January.
Sabitzer has made a significant contribution to United since his arrival, making 18 appearances and scoring important goals in both the Carabao Cup and FA Cup competitions. He netted a backheel goal against Fulham to help the club reach the FA Cup Final and also scored his penalty in the semi-final against Brighton and Hove Albion.
Despite his impressive performances, Sabitzer’s future with the club remains uncertain. In light of this injury, Old Trafford released a statement expressing their disappointment at losing his services.
The English Premier League club is reportedly now in talks with Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich about the player’s rehabilitation, but it is unclear whether he will return to Manchester United in the future.
