December 20, (THEWILL) – Saudi Arabia has accepted invitations to compete in the 2025 and 2027 CONCACAF Gold Cup tournaments, following the country’s selection to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup.
The announcement came on Thursday through an official statement from the Saudi national team.
The 2025 Gold Cup competition will take place between June 14 and July 6, with matches scheduled across venues in the United States and Canada.
This regional championship traditionally features teams from North and Central America and the Caribbean.
CONCACAF’s decision to include Saudi Arabia continues its strategy of welcoming guest nations to the tournament. Qatar, which hosted the 2022 World Cup, participated in the previous two editions of the competition, establishing a pattern of global integration.
The partnership between CONCACAF and the Saudi Arabian Football Federation will extend beyond tournament participation.
The collaboration encompasses football development initiatives, corporate social responsibility projects, and knowledge exchange programmes between the 2026 World Cup host region and Saudi Arabia.
This arrangement holds particular significance given FIFA’s recent confirmation of Saudi Arabia’s successful bid to host the 2034 World Cup. The decision was finalised last Wednesday through an acclamation process, with Saudi Arabia submitting the only bid for the tournament.
