May 04, (THEWILL) — Afrobeat singer Seun Kuti has ruled out any reconciliation with Nigerian music star Wizkid, saying their disagreement is permanent.
The fallout began earlier this year after Seun criticized Wizkid’s fanbase for comparing the Grammy-winning singer to his late father, Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti.
Wizkid responded publicly, claiming he was greater than Fela, which led to a public exchange between the two artists on social media, with Seun at one point referring to Wizkid as a “short man.”
Speaking on the Selah Meditate podcast, Seun Kuti said he cannot reconcile with Wizkid because of the perceived disrespect to his father.
“It is on for life. I don’t have anything to say about him but it is on for life. You don’t say things about my dad and then it is fine. There is no coming back from that,” Seun said.
Seun emphasised that the insult to his father is a line that cannot be crossed, making any reconciliation impossible.
