May 14, (THEWILL) — FIFA has announced that Shakira, Madonna and K-pop supergroup, BTS, will headline the first-ever halftime show at a FIFA World Cup final.
The line-up was officially announced on Thursday, May 14, 2026.
The performance will take place during the 2026 FIFA World Cup final on July 19 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. FIFA said the show will be curated by Coldplay frontman Chris Martin and produced by Global Citizen.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico, with the tournament beginning on June 11 in Mexico City.
The halftime show marks a major change for the World Cup, where performances have traditionally taken place before matches rather than during halftime.
Shakira is no stranger to the World Cup stage. She performed the 2010 tournament anthem “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” and recently released a new World Cup song titled “Dai Dai,” featuring Nigerian Grammy winner Burna Boy.
Madonna is preparing to release her upcoming album “Confessions II” in July, while BTS recently reunited after completing mandatory military service in South Korea and are currently on a global tour.
FIFA previously announced that J Balvin, Tyla, Belinda and Maná will perform during the opening ceremony in Mexico City. Other opening match performers include Katy Perry, Future, Anitta, Rema and LISA.
