March 24, (THEWILL) — Nigerian singer, Shallipopi, has opened up about the struggles he faced breaking into the music industry, saying his early experiences shaped his current attitude.

The artiste said that between 2023 and 2024, he experienced ill treatment from some colleagues and did not receive the support he expected as his career began to rise.

In a post on X, Shallipopi wrote: “2023/2024 many artistes pour me spit for face…. I mean many, that’s why I’m extra mean, ogun go kill of una one by one as time dey go.”

He said the experience hardened him and helped shape his approach to his career.

Shallipopi gained mainstream success with his viral hit Elon Musk, which was later remixed with appearances from other stars.

He has also credited fellow artiste, Zlatan, for boosting his early career by supporting his music at no cost in October 2023.

Shallipopi continues to release new music and expand his presence in the Nigerian music scene.
