January 13, (THEWILL) — Controversial singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, appeared before the Federal High Court in Ota, Ogun State, on Monday, to face a nine-count criminal charge.
According to the Ogun State Police Command, the charges include assault, theft, causing bodily harm, and resisting arrest.
The arraignment followed a viral video, which surfaced on Sunday, showing the singer in police custody. The case reportedly stems from a complaint filed by his estranged partner, Ashabi Simple.
Prosecutors stated that the alleged incident occurred on New Year’s Day at Portable’s bar in Iyana Ilogbo, where he allegedly attacked Ashabi, police officers, and several other individuals.
Other alleged victims listed in the charges include Ileyemi Damilola, Akinyanju Oluwabusayomi, Olowu Olumide, Demilade Ogunniyi, and Ebuka Odah.
Portable is also accused of stealing a Mercedes-Benz E300, valued at ₦12 million, allegedly belonging to Ileyemi Damilola and purchased from Wally Dex Auto.
The court was informed that two of Ashabi Simple’s siblings testified about the alleged assault, though Ashabi herself did not appear in court.
Police further accused the singer of obstructing and assaulting Inspector Ogungbe Olayemi, a female officer, while she was performing her official duties.
The presiding judge denied Portable bail, citing the absence of the allegedly assaulted police officer in court. The judge ruled that the officer must appear before bail can be considered.
Portable was subsequently remanded in custody, with a fresh bail hearing scheduled for January 19, 2026.
