Singer Portable Denies Reports Of Serving Prison Sentence

May 02, (THEWILL) – Controversial Street-hop artist Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has publicly refuted reports that he is currently serving a prison sentence.

The singer took to Instagram on Thursday to clarify his legal status, emphasising that he remains a free man and is actively pursuing his music career.

This development follows a court ruling in which Portable was convicted of assault and theft, resulting in a three-month prison sentence with an option of a N30,000 fine—a penalty he reportedly paid.

In his official statement, Portable firmly denied the rumours.

“Amid recent misleading online reports suggesting that Portable has been sentenced to three months in prison, we would like to categorically state that Portable is NOT incarcerated, has NOT been arrested, and is NOT serving any sentence.” He said

He further clarified that all prior legal issues have been resolved, expressing his commitment to personal growth and positive contributions to society.

“All past matters have been peacefully and amicably resolved with the Nigerian government and relevant authorities. Portable remains a free individual, fully dedicated to his craft, upcoming projects, and global engagements.”

The artist also reaffirmed his professional availability.

“This period has been one of reflection, learning, and growth. Portable is focused on evolving as an artist, a responsible citizen, and a positive influence. He remains open for performances, brand collaborations, and appearances worldwide”, he added.
