January 20, (THEWILL) — Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has been released from custody after meeting his bail conditions.

The case is linked to a complaint filed by his estranged partner, Ashabi Simple. He was also accused of assaulting her siblings and other individuals, as well as stealing a car reportedly valued at ₦12 million.

The incident reportedly occurred on New Year’s Day at the singer’s bar in Iyana Ilogbo, Ogun State. A heated exchange between Portable and Ashabi later went viral on social media, drawing public attention to the case.

Portable was arraigned before a court in Ota, Ogun State, last week, where he faced multiple criminal charges.

He was initially remanded in custody after the court declined to grant him bail due to the absence of the police officer he allegedly assaulted and resisted arrest against.

Following his release, a video shared online showed the singer being welcomed by associates.

In another video, Portable denied the allegations, insisting that the claims against him were false.

Portable’s career has been marked by several controversies since his breakout in 2021, including previous run-ins with law enforcement over allegations of assault, public disturbances, and confrontations with authorities.
