Ganiyu Morufu, popularly known as Ijoba Lande

February 06, (THEWILL) — Skit maker and Nollywood actor, Ganiyu Morufu, popularly known as Ijoba Lande, known for his roles in Yoruba movies, has accused Nigerian police officers of assaulting and robbing him days after he returned to Nigeria from the United Kingdom.

In a video shared on his Facebook page, the actor said the incident happened shortly after his arrival in the country.

The video, which has since circulated on social media, shows the entertainer with visible injuries around his eyes and dried blood on his cheek, as bystanders tried to clean his face with water.

“I came back from the UK six days ago, and I was attacked and beaten by some Nigerian police officers in Nigeria”, he said.

Ijoba Lande alleged that the incident occurred at a filling station in Ajah, Lagos State, and involved officers from the Area J Police Command. He claimed that the officers confiscated his iPhone 16 Pro Max and also seized $1,200 in cash belonging to his brother.

“They collected my iPhone 16 Pro Max and my brother’s $1,200. I nearly lost my life”, he wrote on Facebook.

The footage also shows him inside what appeared to be a police station, where he was seen attempting to lodge a complaint over the alleged incident.

He did not provide full details on what led to the encounter.

The Nigerian Police Force has not issued an official response to the allegations.
