July 31, (THEWILL) – The free transfer of former Al Ahly forward, Oluwafemi Junior Ajayi, to Smouha SC, in the Egyptian Premier League has been finalised.
After five years at the iconic North African club, the Nigerian forward and Al Ahly mutually agreed to part ways in December 2021. With all financial and administrative issues resolved, he joined Al-Nasr Benghazi, a Libyan team in February this year.
THEWILL recalls that the 26-year-old winger moved from Tunisian team CS Sfaxien to Ahly in 2016. He scored 41 goals and contributed to another 30 throughout his 161 games with the Cairo giants, with four League titles and two CAF Champions League trophies to show for his time there.
Despite being an important member of Al Ahly, he was used less frequently during the final season of the previous coach Pitso Mosimane’s reign, and he chose to leave when the chance presented itself.
