May 16, (THEWILL) – South African Grammy-winning artist Laura Seethal, popularly known as Tyla, has been announced as the host of the 2025 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, making her the first African to hold this prestigious role.

The ceremony is set for June 21 at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California, and will be broadcast live on Nickelodeon (DStv channel 305).

Tyla is also nominated in two categories: Favourite Global Music Star and Favourite Music Collaboration for her feature on WizTheMc and bees & honey’s hit track, “Show Me Love.”

Leading the nominations this year are Kendrick Lamar, Ariana Grande, and Lady Gaga, each with four nods. They are followed by Selena Gomez, Dwayne Johnson, Jelly Roll, and Jack Black, who have three nominations apiece.

Tyla is no stranger to the Kids’ Choice Awards, having received three nominations in 2024 for Favorite Breakout Artist, Favorite Global Music Star, and Favorite Viral Song.
