March 18, (THEWILL) — Nigerian media personality, Anita Natacha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has sparked online debate after speaking out against what she described as hypocrisy among some religious people.
The reality TV star criticised individuals who engage in questionable behaviour throughout the year but turn to religious activities during specific periods, such as attending church services or travelling for pilgrimage.
“The way people practice religion is almost like a joke to me. You do all sorts all year, only to fly to Mecca and walk around the Kaaba, or show up in church on Sunday and sit in the front row. After the whole ritual is done, you return to your normal life,” she stated.
Her comments quickly drew mixed reactions on social media, with some users agreeing with her views, while others disagreed.
Some users have alleged that her remarks may be directed at singer Asake and influencer Papaya Ex, whose recent videos from Mecca have been trending online.
In separate clips, both Asake and Papaya Ex were seen struggling to touch the Kaaba while observing Ramadan in the holy city.
The development has continued to generate conversations online, with many debating religious practices and personal beliefs.
