April 28, (THEWILL) — Pop star Taylor Swift has applied to trademark her voice and image to protect herself from artificial intelligence-generated content.
The singer filed three trademark applications in the United States on April 24, 2026.
The filings cover an image of her performing during her “Eras Tour”, as well as two audio clips of her speaking while promoting her album “The Life of a Showgirl.”
The move comes amid growing use of AI to create fake or manipulated content involving celebrities.
The applications aim to prevent unauthorized use of her voice and likeness.
Trademark attorney Josh Gerben said the filings could help strengthen protection against AI-generated imitations that sound or look similar to Swift.
He noted that AI has made it easier to replicate voices and images, creating new legal challenges for artists.
He added that registering specific phrases and visuals linked to Swift could help challenge content that is “confusingly similar” to her voice or image.
Other celebrities, including actor Matthew McConaughey, have also taken steps to protect their likeness from AI misuse.
AI-generated content involving public figures has become increasingly common, prompting wider debate in the entertainment industry over regulation and consent.
