March 30, (THEWILL) — Nigerian singer and songwriter Tems has become the most-streamed African artist on Spotify, reaching over 40.1 million monthly listeners.
She broke records previously held by Rema (40.01M) and South African star Tyla (40.2M in late 2025) and is currently ranked #121 globally.
Her rise in 2026 has been fueled by a mix of new releases and popular hits. Her 2024 debut album, “Born In The Wild”, has surpassed 800 million streams, becoming the 10th most-streamed Nigerian album ever.
Recent singles like “Love Me Jeje”, “What You Need” (A COLORS SHOW version), and “Bounce Road Blues” with J. Cole and Future have also boosted her streaming numbers.
She has also seen massive streams from high-profile collaborations, including “Wait For U” with Future and Drake, which has over 1.3 billion streams and “Essence” with Wizkid.
The Grammy-winning artist, known for her unique voice and genre-blending style, also contributed to the “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” soundtrack.
Tems’ success reflects the growing global appeal of African music and Afrobeats. Industry watchers expect her monthly listeners to keep rising as she releases new music and performs internationally.
