February 18, (THEWILL) — Nigerian singers, Tems and Burna Boy, have set a new record for African artistes on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Both stars now hold the record for the most Billboard Hot 100 entries by any African act, with eight career appearances each, surpassing the previous record of seven held by South African rock band Seether.
The milestone follows their recent features on J. Cole’s album, ‘The Fall-Off’. Tems appears on “Bounce Road Blues” alongside Future, which debuted at No. 34, while Burna Boy is featured on “Only You,” which entered the chart at No. 78.
Tems currently leads all African artistes on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2026, with three entries this year alone. These include “Raindance” with UK rapper Dave, “What You Need” from her November 2025 EP ‘Love Is a Kingdom’, and her latest appearance on J. Cole’s album.
Burna Boy’s achievement further strengthens his legacy on the US charts. The Grammy-winning singer has now placed at least one song on the Billboard Hot 100 for six consecutive years, from 2021 to 2026, a first for an African artist.
His previous charting singles include Loved By You (2021), Last Last (2022), Sittin’ On Top Of The World and Talibans II (2023), Just Like Me and We Pray (2024), WGFT (2025), and now Only You (2026).
This latest milestone underscores the growing global influence of Afrobeats and the expanding presence of African music on major international charts.
